Frequently Asked Questions

We know you have questions! Here are answers to the most common questions we hear from couples planning a Florida beach wedding.

About Florida Weddings

Why choose Florida Weddings?

Our whole goal in what we do is for you as the bride to have fun, feel relaxed, and enjoy the process! We bring expertise in beach weddings, knowledgeable staff, customizable upscale designs, and personable customer service focused on making your dreams a reality.

Locations & Venues

How do we select a location for our beach wedding?

Our experienced team helps couples choose their perfect beach venue. We work with various Florida destinations and can provide services at most beaches including county/state parks, beachfront resorts, condos, and rental beach houses.

Can we get married at the beachfront resort or condo where we are staying?

Yes, but permission from the property owner is required. Resorts typically charge their own fees and may offer indoor backup spaces. Condos and rental homes often allow beach use at no charge, providing a more affordable alternative.

Will there be other people on the beach?

Yes, though we recommend weekday sunset weddings for fewer people. Based on our experience, beachgoers are respectful and do not interfere. We position ceremonies away from crowds when possible.

Do we need a permit to get married on the beach?

Most beaches do require a permit to get married on the beach. Permit fees vary in price depending on the city, but generally range between $125 to $450. Florida Weddings assists with obtaining all necessary permits.

When is the best time to have a Florida Beach Wedding?

Beach weddings operate year-round, with Friday and Saturday sunset ceremonies booking fastest. Weekday weddings attract fewer beachgoers. Ceremonies typically start when the sun is at its best for amazing photos and conclude with sunset pictures.

Packages & Pricing

Do any of your packages include accommodations and a dinner reception?

No, but we provide a personally researched list of recommended accommodations, dinner reception options, high-quality salons available, and the Clerk of the Court's information after booking.

If we cancel the wedding, is the deposit refundable?

Within 30 days of the wedding, the total amount is due and is non-refundable but transferrable to another date or location. After payment, all fees remain non-refundable regardless of time remaining.

What if our wedding is canceled due to a natural disaster or hurricane, is there a refund?

Couples may apply fees toward rescheduling to another date, time, or location, with mutual agreement from Florida Weddings to avoid booking conflicts.

Can we hire Florida Weddings for additional photography time?

Yes! Photography packages include one, one-and-a-half, or two-hour options. Additional photo time will be at the rate of $250 for each added hour.

How do we pay for services?

When you reserve your date, a non-refundable deposit is required and the final balance is due 30 days prior to your wedding. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and checks.

Legal Requirements

How do we get our marriage license?

Both partners must be at least 18, unmarried, and appear in person with photo ID showing date of birth. Previous divorce or annulment details are required if applicable. The marriage license is issued at the time of application and is valid for 60 days. There are no blood tests or waiting periods for non-residents; Florida residents face a three-day waiting period. The fee is $88.

Who files the license after the ceremony?

Our officiant signs it and post-mails the license to the same Clerk of the Court office that you purchased it from. Alternatively, the officiant can sign immediately and return it to you for self-filing.

Your Ceremony

Are we able to customize our wedding ceremony and include family, friends and children in the ceremony?

Yes! Guests may read poems or other readings, and children can be part of the sand unity ceremony with you. Details are finalized during the planning stage with your officiant.

Is there a need for a rehearsal?

No rehearsal is necessary because beach weddings are simple. Couples customize ceremonies via phone conversation with their officiant, which functions similarly to a rehearsal. Friendly direction occurs 30 minutes before the ceremony. Additional rehearsals are available for $100.

The Day Of

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?

Beach wedding companies are a service-oriented business and are not an indoor wedding venue. Couples should secure their own indoor backup location. Florida Weddings provides backup option recommendations, which typically include resort banquet spaces or condo association spaces.

After the Wedding

How do we get the photo images and video after the wedding?

About 4 weeks following your wedding, your photo images are emailed via a downloadable photo gallery with all rights to print and reproduce. Video links are similarly emailed for downloading and saving.
